Dubai-based cargo airline SolitAir has expanded its African network with services to Port Harcourt in Nigeria and Hargeisa in Somaliland.
The additions mark the carrier’s first operations in the two markets and increase its African network to 20 destinations across 16 countries.
Port Harcourt International Airport serves Nigeria’s oil and gas sector while Hargeisa’s Egal International Airport handles exports that include livestock and time-sensitive agricultural products.
The routes were introduced in response to customer demand and to strengthen cargo connections between the Gulf and the two African markets, SolitAir Founder and CEO Hamdi Osman said.
“Nigeria and Somaliland are important additions to our African network, giving us an opportunity to strengthen connections between the Gulf and these markets,” Osman added.
“These routes were built around real customer demand. Port Harcourt and Hargeisa are good examples of how we’re developing the network – by looking at where our partners need to move cargo and building connections that support those trade flows.”
The airline operates seven Boeing 737-800 converted freighters, each offering cargo capacity of about 20 tonnes, from its hub at Dubai World Central’s Al Maktoum International Airport.
