Shipping giant Maersk is set to launch a second dedicated warehouse in Durban, trading under the name of Precool Cold Storage.
It’s part of an existing facility in Hammarsdale in KZN and is expected to be operational in early January next year.
It will increase capacity of the existing cold store operations, which can handle temperatures from ambient to -25C, and has dedicated sections for frozen and chilled cargo, serving fruit, vegetable, concentrate and protein customers across South Africa.
“Its temperature controlling system ensures the safety of sensitive cargo, catering for both export and import cargo to and from South Africa. The facility is equipped with a large capacity of steri chambers for fruit requiring specialised cooling,” says Precool’s CEO Manny Dos Anjos.
The facility is located 45kms from the Port of Durban and 4kms from the N3 highway.
