On 08 September 2021, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) announced the publication of its 17-page Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme presentation of its Maputo Corridor Engagement.
According to the opening slide “The AEO programme is a voluntary programme for traders. OCAS will be implemented as a mandatory way of regulating cross-border operations. However, moving between the accreditation levels will be voluntary and initiated by the client. Both the AEO and OCAS accreditation concepts are aimed at locally registered entities.”
