ALTHOUGH DECEMBER has arrived, there's still no official word on what the final Safari set-up will be from next May when P&O Nedlloyd pulls-out of the six-member ship-sharing agreement, to do its own PON thing.
But sources inside Safari suggest that it looks as if the five remaining member-lines - Safmarine, Maersk Sealand, Mitsui-OSK, K-Line and MISC - intend to stay together in the new service, and no additional members look likely at present.
Negotiations within Safari continue to progress well, FTW was told. Nothing will change, including PON's withdrawal, till next May, so it's not as though things are last-minute.
But there seems to be little that still needs to be decided although FTW was told that the members were still discussing the port rotation that will best suit the market.
