South African wines are fast gaining traction in the Ugandan market, according to Ugandan distributor Nanyunja Lillian Muleke.
This after she hosted a wine-tasting session of South African winemaker Rosemary Mosia’s Bridge of Hope Wines at her La Ville Wines & Spirits shop in Kampala last night.
Mosia is one of the 25 South African businesspeople who was in Uganda for the Outward Trade and Investment Mission this week.
She said that her long-term strategy was to invest in a bottling plant for her products in Kampala in order to grow her company’s share of Uganda’s wine market.
“Producing wine in South Africa and then shipping it in bulk for bottling in Uganda will have a positive impact in both countries. It will create jobs and export revenue in South Africa as we increase our production and export volumes, and will also create employment opportunities and investment in Uganda. Consumers will benefit as well as prices will go down,” said Mosia.
