Rwanda’s national air carrier has requested cargo services between Lusaka and Johannesburg from the South Africa Civil Aviation Authority.
The flights will be operated by two ULS Cargo A310-300Fs, previously used by Qatar Cargo to fly between Kigali, Lagos and Doha.
RwandAir Cargo recently took over a route between Brazzaville and Kigali, previously operated by Ethiopian Cargo using a B757F in 2013.
This route will be used in addition to routes to Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, operated by a B737-800F aircraft.
RwandAir Cargo will provide Class 1 cargo flights on the two A310-300Fs from Lusaka's Kenneth Kaunda International Airport to Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International Airport three times a week.
The A310s will be based in Kigali for three days before using their old route between Doha, Kigali, and Lagos, as well as their new route between Doha, Kigali, and Johannesburg, with Lusaka as a stop.
