Walvis Bay efficiency adds competitive edge
COMBINING THE company’s strengths
and services under one banner, the
Manica Group has set up a specialist
logistics division .
And according to Patrick K ohlstaedt,
project manager Manica Group
Namibia, the dedicated projects
team has secured a diverse range of
contracts.
These include the shore-based
logistics for the K udu gas fields, the
export of copper concentrate from
Zambia, the shipment of uranium
ore and the importation and delivery
of perishables such as potato seed
to Zambia. His department is also
involved in training initiatives for the
Namibian freight forwarding industry
and supports the various corridor
initiatives.
“By adding capacity and coordinating
the services provided by
the specialist departments in the
Manica group, we are able to offer our
customers competitive edge,” he says.
The port of Walvis Bay is an
essential part of the competitive mix,
he adds. “Walvis Bay offers reliable
service, fast turnaround times with no
long queues in the roadstead or delays
due to wind. There is also very little
pilferage and no hijacking.
“Importantly, the port is also
customer focused. The authorities will
go out of their way to accommodate
their customers,” he says.
