Nigeria’s Kaduna International Airport has resumed operations after an 18-month closure following a terrorist attack on the facility in May last year.
The airport is 22 kilometres from the capital of the northern state of Kaduna.
The airport also serves as a hub for Chanchangi Airlines.
Flights to Kaduna International Airport were provided by international airlines such as Air Peace, Ethiopian Airlines, Arik Air and Aero Contractors prior to the attack and subsequent closure.
According to airport manager, Adamu Sheikh, the arrival of Air Peace ERJ-145 on Wednesday this week marked the resumption of flights on the Kaduna route.
More airlines were set to commence operations, assured that adequate security had been put in place for aircraft landing and take-off.
Air Peace’s Kaduna station manager, Fatima Ndayako, said the airline returned to the Kaduna route due to persistent requests from customers.
She announced the airline will have daily flights to and from Kaduna and Lagos.
