SA Revenue Service on Tuesday announced new control measures for the importation of diesel from Mozambique.
From July 2 provisional payment must be lodged in respect of RIT/RIB/WE procedure codes.
The payment needs to be made before trucks approach the Lebombo border post and bypass and payments must be linked to the case before the trucks can leave Mozambique.
All trucks proceeding to the port of entry before payments have been made and linked will be detained and be moved to KM7, according to a statement from Sars. These trucks will then be booked into the state warehouse and charged state warehouse rent.
Payments should be made through e-filing rather than EFTs to ensure that the trucks are released quickly, says Sars. “Clients will be given a release note that will include the travelling routes to follow and there will be a special Customs team that will endorse the documents once they reach the port of export. Clients with in-transit bonds will be monitored differently.”
