Mozambique saw 2.3% growth in its gross domestic product (GDP) for the second quarter of 2019, according to data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE).
This was largely spurred by a 3.5% growth in the country’s tertiary sector – mostly the transport, storage, ancillary transport activities, information and communication sub-sectors.
The manufacturing and construction industries grew by 3.7% and 3% respectively. Other major industries – such as agriculture, forestry, logging and mining – saw a drop in GDP growth which resulted in a 0.6% total decrease for the primary sector.
