The UPS Foundation, the philanthropic arm of logistics major UPS, has donated US$10 000 – approximately R78 391.24 – to Home of Hope in the Western Cape.
Home of Hope is a registered Child Protection Organisation that aims to break the cycle of abuse by providing education, support and protection services for the safety and well-being of all children in need.
“As one of its philanthropic efforts throughout the geographical areas that UPS serves, The UPS Foundation held a draw to select charities that would each receive a grant. One charity was selected at random per region to win $10 000 from The UPS Foundation to further support volunteers following their generous contributions of time during UPS’s 9th annual Global Volunteer Month (GVM) in October 2011,” said Belinda Gault, HR manager of UPS South Africa. During GVM, UPS employees all over the world participated in giving back to the communities in which UPS operates by contributing time to local charities and organisations.
In the Western Cape, 30 UPS employees from the company’s Cape Town branch dedicated 170 volunteer hours to the Home of Hope as well as Durbanville children’s home.
