JACK ROWLEY, head of a leading Richards Bay engineering company, was killed in a motor accident on Wednesday, February 26. He was returning to Richards Bay after holding meetings in Durban when his car was involved in a collision with a mini-bus taxi on the main Durban-Richards Bay road.
Rowley's company, Rowdock Limited, is heading up proposals to build a new 350 000 ton drydock at Richards Bay, and only recently was awarded a site and received the green light from Portnet and other authorities. Rowley, aged 53, had played a major role in motivating the giant dock involving both overseas and local interests.
