Djibouti’s Port of Ghoubet – located 40km south of the Gulf of Ghoubet – was officially inaugurated by the president of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, last week.
The port – which has been under construction for the last two years at a cost of US$64 million – is a key terminal for the export of salt, with an annual capacity of 5 million tonnes.
It is the second port to be launched in the north of the country, with Port Tadjourah opening just a week before on June 15.
