The Department of Economic Development is set to launch a new job seekers initiative at each of Johannesburg’s regional hubs, according to a statement released Tuesday.
“This leading edge initiative will grow and develop the labour market within the city as well as link job seekers to opportunities within the public and private sector,” said MMC for Economic Development, Leah Knott.
She noted that hubs would be increased to two per region and the job seekers’ desks at each hub would be entrepreneurial spaces and meeting points for individuals to engage, collaborate and find solutions to job creation and economic growth.
“In order to succeed, such an approach can only work through stronger alignment between the department and regional offices as well as collaboration between the city, private sector and small business,” added Knott.
The department said that the aim was for the city to have a total of 14 such facilities by 2021.
