BEING ISO accredited enables a company to improve internal standards considerably. It should always be regarded as an ideal tool for staff training, says Nadine Anderson, assistant quality manager at F H Bertling Logistics. “More than that, it is of great value to have people trained and certified as lead auditors. I have achieved this along with our managing director Marc Schweiger, who also heads the quality management team at Bertling,” she says. The company was accredited with ISO 9001-2000 two years ago and undergoes surveillance audits every six months. The latest was completed in mid-September. “It works well internally,” she says. “It certainly helps individuals in their daily routine. We train our staff on a regular basis, complying with the ISO requirements.” The company relocated at the beginning of September. Still based in Jet Park, it has taken over larger premises close by. “But the work flow has not been affected by the move,” says Anderson. “Well trained staff can adjust instantly to this type of change.”
