Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) has recently completed a dredging project and has deepened its fairway to a depth of 14 metres.
This, according to the Journal of Commerce, will enable India’s top port to handle larger containerships.
Meanwhile, Anil Singh, subcontinent MD at DP World, said his company currently operated the NSIGT terminal, the only one at JN Port, he added, to have the requisite state-of-the-art facilities to receive such modern vessels.
But Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal, a subsidiary of Singapore’s PSA International, recently laid the foundations for a new container terminal at JNPT.
