IF IT gets the right offer,
the giant Imperial Holdings
group will sell its domestic
and regional air cargo carrier,
Imperial Air Cargo (IAC).
This was part of a decision
made earlier this month when
Imperial announced that it
intended to dispose of what it
termed “non-core assets” in its
tourism operation and most of
its aviation business.
In an exclusive interview
with FTW, CE Hubert Brody
said that IAC – which has
acquired a meaningful share
of the domestic and regional
airfreight market – fitted
nicely into place in the group’s
various operations in the local
transport market.
“We think it’s a very
valuable business,” he added.
But Imperial will bite if the
right bait is dangled in front
of it.
“We’ll see what offers there
are,” said Brody. “And, if one
of them is attractive enough,
then we’ll sell IAC.”
But it’s certainly not an
urgent fire sale by any means.
“If we don’t get the right
price, then we don’t mind
holding on to it,” Brody added,
“because it augments what
is happening in our road
transport division.”
