Stephane Graber has replaced Hans Guenther Kersten as the new director general of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (Fiata).Graber will assume duties in Geneva on January 1. He has served as secretary general of the Swiss Trading and Shipping Association for seven years.
In a statement from Fiata on Monday, the freight forwarding association said Graber would be tasked with increasing Fiata’s global trade presence.
“A decision taken at its general meeting on 5 October to move its headquarters to Geneva in 202. The new director general will head up the initiative for Fiata to more closely align itself with international governmental and non-governmental organisations linked to international trade and trade logistics,” an association statement said.
Basil Pietersen, Fiata president, added that Graber would usher in a new era at Fiata, highlighting his vast experience in information technology, training, development and finance.
“As a previous secretary general in a not-for-profit non-governmental body involved in commodity trading and shipping based in Geneva, he has that in-depth understanding of international logistics and the movement of goods across borders,” Pietersen said. – Bjorn Vorster
