The Federation of Southern African Road Transport Associations (Fesarta) has just held its "first of its kind" Truckers Forum 2012 Workshop at the Sandton Convention Centre.
The aim of the workshop was to provide solutions to leading problems faced by the road transport industry involved in intra-regional trade.
The most pressing issues faced by the Road Transport Industry were separated into five Interactive Sessions: Border Procedures, Documentation & Infrastructure; Weighbridges and Load Limits; Charges, Taxes and Corruption; Road Saftey including: Driver wellness, Driver Training, Left hand drive trucks, Fitness of vehicles, Security and Hijacking; Self Regulation and Accreditation.
The outcomes from these sessions were documented and will be officially presented by Fesarta to the Comesa/EAC/SADC tripartite alliance, as input to its Trade and Transport Facilitation Programme Annual.
