SEZ Public Participation
Workshops
On 10 February the
Department of Trade and
Industry (the dti) extended
an “Invitation to Special
Economic Zone (SEZ) Public
Participation Workshops”.
These workshops will be
hosted country-wide on the
dates listed below from 09:00
to 13:30.

(Durban); (ii) 15 February
Mpumalanga (Nelspruit);
(iii) 20 February Eastern
Cape (East London); (iv) 21
February Western Cape (Cape
Town); (v) 23 February Free
State (Bloemfontein); (vi)
24 February Northern Cape
(Kimberley); (vii) 28 February
North West (Mafikeng); (viii)
01 March Limpopo; and (ix)
08 March Gauteng (Pretoria).
Provisional Payment –
Brazilian Chicken
On 10 February the South
African Revenue Service
(Sars) announced the
imposition of a provisional
payment (PP) on frozen meat
of fowls of the species Gallus
Domesticus, whole birds and
boneless cuts, classifiable
under tariff subheadings
0207.12.90, and 0207.14.10,
originating in or imported
from Brazil.
The provisional payment is
effective, for six months, from
10 February to
10 August 2012.
The rates of provisional
payments are 62.93%
(0207.12.90), 6.26%, and
46.59% (0207.14.10). The
latter depends on the
company of manufacture in
Brazil.
All interested parties are
now afforded the opportunity
to review and comment
on the International Trade
Administration Commission
of South Africa (Itac) report,
which details its findings.
