The Department of Trade and Industry (dti) will lead a delegation of 29 businesspeople to the 8th Investment and Trade Initiative (ITI) in Kinshasa and Lubumbashi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), from November 6 to 11.
“South Africa and [the] DRC have the potential to trade at an optimal level in different sectors of the economy especially beneficiation and manufacturing,” said Trade and Industry Minister Dr Rob Davies.
“There is still work that needs to be done in terms of further strengthening commercial and investment relations and focusing on new collaboration and trade partnerships in key areas of the economies of the markets, and we are optimistic that the ITI will provide that platform.”
Sectors targeted for the ITI include agro-processing, mining capital equipment and energy. The programme will comprise business seminars, round-table discussions, site visits and business-to-business meetings.
