Plans are under way to establish the world’s first digital shipping register, according to the Danish Maritime Authority (DMA).
Charlotte Ahrendt Steen, DMA deputy director general and CPO, said digitising the registry would drive efficiency and lower cost for business.
The register will include extensive reports and processes that will be easy to access.
“It will reduce the administrative burden for those companies that have their ships registered under the Danish flag,” Steen added.
The Danish International Register of Shipping is expected to be in service by the end of 2020.
