Supply chain professionals from around the world will converge on Cape Town next week for the annual Sapics conference where ongoing uncertainty and risk to the supply chain will top the agenda.
Risk expert Dr Robert Besseling, one of this year’s keynote speakers, contends that the main business and supply chain disruption in South Africa today is uncertainty - be it around the country’s power supply, industrial action or key pieces of legislation.
“Professionalisation of supply chain management has never been more critical than it is today in our increasingly global, challenging, complex and dynamic business environment,” says Sapics president Keabetswe Mpane
This year’s conference – the 41st – will see internationally renowned presenters cover topics ranging from the supply chain risks posed by Brexit to those faced by peacekeepers in Somalia and healthcare workers in remote African villages; from robotics, risk management and state capture, to reality television and water management, says Mpane.
Futurist and transformation expert Sean Culey will examine the drivers of technological change, the social, economic and political factors that both enable or suppress it, and the impact that technologies like robotics, blockchain and AI will have on businesses, economies and society.
