When it comes to seafreight services,
it’s as much about reliable and
speedy transit times as it is about
feeder connections – and according
to Safmarine Africa’s Far East
commercial manager, Gregory
Marshall, competitive feeder options
are an important element of the line’s
service offering.
Safari 1, Safari 3, FEW 2 and FEW
3 provide comprehensive coverage
of South Africa, Namibia, West
Africa, the Indian Ocean Islands and
Mozambique.
Marshall says the Safari 3 service
serving South East Asia – which was
upgraded in May this year – makes
direct calls at the Mozambique ports
of Maputo, Beira and Nacala as
well as the Indian Ocean Islands of
Madagascar, Reunion and Mauritius.
“This service currently deploys
7 x 2100-TEU capacity vessels to
ensure sufficient capacity for both
dry and reefer cargo while the Safari
1 service is particularly attractive to
shippers requiring fast transit times
from Yantian (16 days), Ningbo (20
days) and Shanghai (22 days) to
Durban.”
A Cape Town call was introduced
on both the west- and eastbound
port rotations of the FEW 3 service
in May this year, while the FEW 2
service offers shippers a direct call at
Walvis Bay.
