THE RECENT announcement that SA Airlink has been named the preferred bidder in the privatisation of Air Botswana will open significant new opportunities for sister company Airlink Cargo. “The deal is expected to be finalised within three weeks and we will then enter into a cargo agreement with the new entity,” Airlink Cargo MD Alwyn Rautenbach told FTW. Botswana’s diversification plans offer exciting new opportunities for cargo growth, says Rautenbach. “They’re concentrating on growing the agricultural and mining sectors which is good news for cargo.”
