Ocean Network Express (ONE) has become the latest shipping company to introduce new surcharge measures as it prepares for the sulphur cap of 0.5%, to be imposed by the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) in 2020.
According to a statement, ONE is “aware of the environmental impact of vessel emissions and welcomes the reduced sulphur regulations”. In order prepare for the new regulations, the carrier has implemented a new ONE Bunker Surcharge (OBS) that will come into effect from January 1, 2019.
A ONE spokesperson said the new OBS would apply to all new contracts entered into for 2019.
