Angolan president, João Lourenço, has demanded a more detailed study of the national carrier’s recovery plan before he will sign off on a plan to purchase 15 more aircraft.
He has officially withdrawn the authorisations given in January to sign contracts with Boeing in the United States and Bombardier in Canada, to purchase the aircraft by 2022.
“The minister of finance, in conjunction with the minister of transport, should boost efforts among sellers and financiers to reverse all financial transactions and minimise financial and reputational damage to the Angolan state,” a presidential order stated.
