ALS Agencies to close

ALS AGENCIES, agents for multi-purpose operator Ahrenkiel Liner Service, will close its doors at the end of the year, director Hans Heer confirmed on Friday.
The future of the line is however still under negotiation, Hamburg-based ALS vice president Frank Westphal told FTW in Johannesburg last week.
"We are currently examining various options for ALS and are in discussion with other companies. At this stage we can't say what direction it will take. We need to analyse the best options."
Westphal was confident that a decision would be reached within 14 days.
ALS currently offers a container, breakbulk and bulk service between South Africa and the Far East.
The closure of ALS Agencies will result in the loss of 11 jobs.
