Although the global drop in airfreight logged -8% in January, the African market only registered a -4% fall.
The driving force behind the January drop, according to International Air Transport Association (Iata) figures, were the -14.3% drop in the volumes in the Asia/Pacific region – the world’s main airfreight generator - and the -9.3% in Europe’s air cargo trade.
North America recorded a -3.5% fall, but Latin America showed a 1.1% growth and the Middle East 9.2%.
