Mozambiquan airline Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) plans to launch flights to Brazil and China in the second half of this year.
According to Ghana’s news agency, LAM’s chief executive Marlene Manave said that the flights may begin between September and November.
According to the CEO the project to establish new routes is estimated to cost US$10-million and has the support and financial contribution of Brazil.
Also according to Manave the international arm, LAM Internacional, is meanwhile due to be set up.
The LAM CEO also said that talks were underway with officials from Brazil and China.
In November 2011 Brazil announced that it would help LAM to buy more aircraft as part of a US$300-m loan from Brazilian development bank Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Económico e Social do Brasil (BNDES).
The LAM fleet includes Embraer aircraft, manufactured by Brazilian aeronautical company Empresa Brasileira de Aeronáutica.
