In a Government Gazette dated 21 June 2024, the International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa (ITAC) extended an invitation to comment on its “draft Administrative Fees Regulations” (Regulations), which were published for public comment.
The purpose of the Regulations is to allow for the recovery of administrative costs incurred by ITAC in issuing permits or certificates or performing other functions. In carrying out its mandate, ITAC incurs substantial costs, which have not been recovered. Accumulated financial pressures require ITAC to recoup at least a portion of these costs by levying fees.
Before promulgating the Regulations, ITAC will publish guidelines for public comment detailing categories and levels of fees, as well as other administrative aspects of the levying of fees by ITAC. ITAC intends to set fees at levels that align with the actual administrative costs incurred by ITAC in performing its functions.
Comments on the Regulations were due by 05 July 2024.
