The World Customs Organization (WCO) organised a regional workshop for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in Amman, Jordan, from 14 to 18 May, with financial support from CCF China. The workshop aimed to emphasise the importance of developing strong leaders capable of effectively navigating the challenges of the digital era and driving successful reforms in Customs operations.

Interactive sessions and case studies provided insights into best practices and strategies for developing these essential digital leadership skills.
Discussions on the role of leaders in creating an environment conducive to innovation and growth were integral parts of the workshop. Customs leaders explored approaches to inspire and motivate their teams to embrace technological advancements, adapt to change, and foster collaboration across departments and sectors.
The workshop also emphasised the value of building strategic partnerships to advance the transformation of customs using advanced technologies and AI. These partnerships enable customs leaders to stay up to date with the latest technological trends, exchange knowledge and best practices, and access innovative solutions. Participants were encouraged to take an active role in championing the digital transformation of their organisations, advocating for the adoption of advanced technologies, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
