Independent Beira Logistics Terminals and Services (IBLT) have continued to invest in storage capacity over recent years and now offer some 24 000 square metres of closed space and 84 000sqm of open space.According to general manager Vika Garibashvili, investment in equipment and infrastructure has also increased, allowing the facility to handle a variety of commodities in the minerals, chemical and agricultural sectors.“Not only are we seeing an increase in the volume of minerals moving along the Beira corridor, but also an increase in the variety of the minerals.”Garibashvili told Freight News that growth on the Beira corridor was ongoing as infrastructure and service levels continued to improve thanks to investment drives by companies such as IBLT.“Of course, there are challenges that impact operations, often not under our control, but we work hard to ensure we are able to remain f lexible and adaptable to deliver to our clients’ expectations, regardless of the challenges.”She said there were high hopes of increasing IBLT’s portfolio of commodities this year, with indications pointing towards even more volume growth in the months ahead.
