- This trade fair will bring together 60+ exhibitors, 58+ conference speakers and 2000+ visitors from 30+ countries to explore emerging opportunities on the African continent.
- The specialised conferences will focus on the pharma and automotive supply chains as well as temperature-controlled systems for export of agricultural produce and perishables.
- air cargo Africa will be organised by Messe Muenchen India on 21-23 February 2023 at Emperors Palace, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Economic growth on the African continent is likely to outperform the global average of 3.2%, according to current estimates by the African Development Bank. The continent’s inherent strengths in agricultural produce and perishables, combined with rising income levels and consequently increasing domestic demand, have resulted in accelerated trade and import-export activity in African nations.
Global investors today are looking to leverage investment opportunities in Africa’s key sectors like agriculture, energy, minerals, health infrastructure and pharmaceutical industries, light manufacturing, transport, logistics, and the digital economy. Therefore, the 6th edition of air cargo Africa will bring together the global air cargo community to explore the logistics requirements of African companies and work with domestic leaders to achieve the full potential of the local industry.
Organised for the first time by Messe Muenchen India, this edition of air cargo Africa will bring together leading airlines, airports, general sales agents, freight forwarders, IT systems for logistic and transport companies to transform ideas and networks in commercial opportunities in South Africa and its neighbouring countries. Therefore, the international cargo community is excited to meet at air cargo Africa 2023 and its curated experiences through the trade fair, conferences, discussion forums, and awards night.
One of the main attractions of air cargo Africa has been its high-value, insights-driven conferences, and this edition is no different, covering timely topics such as logistics for the automotive supply chain, flowers and perishables, pharma logistics and e-commerce, among many others.
In keeping with the latest challenges in the sector as well as existing opportunities, this edition will also focus on increasing digitalisation of cargo operations, emerging technologies in logistics operations, track-and-trace solutions for a wide range of products, regulatory and policy-level discussions to improve cross-border trade, and many other topics. This year the theme of air cargo Africa 2023 is ‘Move and deliver fast and fresh, better and bigger – Africa is ready’. The STAT Times Awards night on 22 February 2023 will congratulate industry leaders who have outperformed against all odds.
Due to its strong value-addition for the African and international community, air cargo Africa is supported by leading industry associations and trade bodies. One such partnership is with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport in South Africa (CILTSA) who will curate the third-day conferences around the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Bhupinder Singh, CEO, Messe Muenchen India, says, “The air cargo business is impacted by several headwinds like geopolitical conflicts and inflationary pressures. However, technologies like drones, AI/ML, predictive analysis, track-and trace and many others, are empowering the air cargo industry to overcome these barriers and innovate for shared success. Therefore, air cargo Africa 2023 seeks to further facilitate this process of knowledge sharing and networking to enable meaningful handshakes and unlock business opportunities in South Africa and its neighbouring markets. Through this trade fair, focused conferences, networking platforms, and an exciting awards night, we want to celebrate the success stories and inspire further innovations and partnerships in Africa’s air cargo sector.”
