Neutral consolidator Aero Africa has increased its weekly service offering out of the United States (US) to Johannesburg as part of an ongoing strategy to extend its footprint.According to Jarryd Niescior, regional operations manager at Aero Africa, neutral weekly scheduled consolidations from five gateways – Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Houston and Chicago – at competitive rates, along with simplified Ex Works door-to-door airport rates, are offered. Miami, Washington, Newark and Dallas can also be serviced.“The US is an incredibly large market, boasting many opportunities to the freight industry,” Niescior told Freight News. “Our goal with our new Blocked Space Agreement (BSA) product is to make use of these opportunities to offer competitive pricing along with trustworthy service levels to the freight forwarding market.”He said with a weakened rand against the dollar, trade with the US had been sporadic, but this was changing. “Leading up to the festive season, we are hopeful that we will start to see a constant increase in volumes for the trade lane.”South America has also been on the neutral consolidator’s radar. “With increased f light schedules from South America, we can offer more capacity at decreased rates from the region along with quick turnaround times,” said Niescior. “With strong representation across the whole of South America, we can offer outstanding airfreight solutions in a challenging environment.”He said cost remained one of the biggest challenges in the airfreight sector for the Americas. “With the cost of freight services under constant scrutiny, we are always challenging ourselves and our partners to look for ways to further reduce pricing for the airfreight sector as a whole.”
