On 22 March 2022, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition called for nominations for the post of Chief Commissioner of the International Trade Administration of South Africa (ITAC), which are due by 11 April 2022.
The all-inclusive remuneration package ranges from R1 544,415 to R1 739 784 per annum.
The successful candidate will be part of the Senior Management of an important public institution with a mandate to promote employment and investment and raise incomes in South Africa and within the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) area through the administration of international trade. The role of ITAC is set out in the International Trade Administration Act, 2002.
To be eligible for appointment and to continue to hold office as a member of ITAC, a person must be ordinarily resident in South Africa and have suitable qualifications and experience in economics, accounting, law, commerce, agriculture, industry or public affairs.
A person may not be a member of ITAC if that person is an office-bearer of any party, movement, organisation or body of a partisan political nature; is an unrehabilitated insolvent; has been found mentally unfit by an order of a competent court; or has been convicted of an offence committed after the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1993 took effect, and sentenced to imprisonment without the option of a fine.
Nominations must be submitted in writing and must include the following:
· A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) that includes membership of all boards the nominee currently serves on;
· Certified copy of the Identity document; and
· Certified copies of qualifications obtained.
The Chief Commissioner will be appointed for a period of five years.
