South Africa’s Skilpadshek Border Post into Botswana on the Trans-Kalahari Corridor (TKC) has been closed temporarily after a truck driver’s Covid-19 results came back positive.
Speaking to Freight News, Mike Fitzmaurice, chief executive of the Federation of East and Southern African Road Transport Associations, confirmed the situation, adding that decontamination had not yet been completed.
“That’s largely because there is no one placed at the border to complete the decontamination. Border officials have to use outsourced companies, and often we are not sure where they are travelling from and how long it could take,” said Fitzmaurice.
He confirmed that the border had been closed since 20.30 last night.
