One of the most important events on the annual calendar of the International Air Transport Association (Iata), the Aviation Security (Avsec) World Conference, will focus on “disruptors and enablers”.
Although disruption is usually associated with the fast-changing innovation space of the 4th industrial revolution, security in the face of fundamental change and related risk is an important facet of aviation safety, an Iata statement has said.
The association’s senior vice president, Nick Careen, said “innovators in security screening technology, passenger processing and risk management have contributed to improvements in aviation security and the customer experience.
“But challenges to aviation security are constantly evolving. Keeping a step ahead of security threats requires even greater collaboration by government and industry.”
He stressed that the conference, set down for Miami at the end of February, would expose top stakeholders to the most pressing issues impacting aviation.
