This month marks the 20th anniversary of trade and diplomatic relations between South Africa and China, with president Jacob Zuma reinforcing the need to explore more opportunities that will continue to create winwin cooperation for both countries. According to Zuma, over the past 20 years the two countries have achieved a significant number of bilateral cooperation agreements in areas including trade, investment, economic and people-topeople relations. China has been SA’s largest trading partner since 2010 with total trade between the two countries exceeding US$20 billion in 2016.
