Transnet is already actively marketing the
port of Ngqura as a hub.
The marketing is built around a “value
proposition” that positions Ngqura as a
world-class port. Among the promises being
made by Transnet are:
● The port will have two to five cranes per
vessel
● Productivity will be at 28 moves per
crane per hour
● Container stacking will be by rubber
tyred gantries – ensuring greater
productivity within the port
● 16.5-metre draft at berths
● 18-metre draft at entrance
● Scheduled berthing
● 2 hours guaranteed berthing time
● Berth occupancy to be capped at 65%
