With reference to the letter In defence of the loca gsa penned by Simon Lavarack of Aireps (FTW June 11, 1999), I think that the writer has missed my point.
ACP Worldwide is a single entity gsa with its own global network of offices. Unlike the FAGSA (Federation of Airline General Sales Agents) organisation, which is not in any way being criticised, ACP is presently able to offer one company representation in the UK, Europe, USA, South Africa and Australia. Of course, ACP has also carefully selected and appointed associate agents in other areas.
However FAGSA is simply a conglomerate of independent agencies with few, if any, substantial co-operation agreements between members.
On the other hand ACP, by networking through our offices, is able quickly and simply to link interline deals together.
This, to the best of my knowledge, has not previously been accomplished to any significant degree by any local gsa company, including Mr Lavarack's.
By virtue of this, not only do Aero Zambia and Interair gain access to the world in their own right, but so too does Virgin Atlantic, for example, gain additional business on its sectors where Aero Zambia and Interair cargo is being fed.
