AIRFREIGHT CONSOLIDATION specialists Group Air recently celebrated their 5th birthday.
The company, which was started in 1994, has grown significantly and there are plans to expand even further.
In an innovative move, Group Air intends to open franchises in East London and Port Elizabeth.
The company was started by Eric Parthesius and he was joined last year by Heiko Schmidt as a logistics consultant, to add value for their clients.
Group Air describes itself as an airline without an aircraft (NAOCC - non airline operating common carrier). It has offices in Holland, New Zealand and Australia and agents in all other parts of world.
All transactions are strictly wholesale, and no commercial clients are serviced. The company plans to expand its airport-to-airport service with a service from point of supply to a point of final consumption. This concept is new to South Africa, but already exists in Europe, according to Schmidt.
We want to offer a logistics consultancy function as added value and as a support function to our agents, he said.
At the birthday celebrations Group Air made presentations to five of its best clients - the recipients were Char-Lynn Freight, Pilot Freight, Safari Air Cargo, SA Mercantile and Kelvin Freight.
