The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) has invested in new “state-of-the-art” servers at its Beitbridge border post following the breakdown of its Asycuda World System last month (December 13 to 19).
Acting Zimra commissioner general, Happias Kuzvinzwa, said that despite the systems breakdown, a record amount of US$40 million was earned at Beitbridge during the month of December.
"Zimra demonstrated resilience and commitment to make sure leakages were sealed and properly managed. This was the highest collection ever since Beitbridge came into operation as a border," said Kuzvinzwa.
He said Zimra was trying to establish what caused the systems breakdown to ensure it did not occur again, adding however that the system was currently performing well.
The new servers are expected in the country by the end of February.
