On 19 March 2024, the World Trade Organization (WTO) announced that Government officials from WTO Members and observers eligible to benefit from technical assistance activities are invited to submit applications to take part in the “2024 Advanced Course on the Economic Analysis of Trade Policy” to be held from 24 to 28 June 2024. Officials can submit applications until 25 March 2024.
The purpose of the advanced course is to equip policy analysts and researchers from developing economies and least-developed countries with practical skills and tools for analysing trade policies, allowing them to connect with experts in the field.
The training activity is based on “A Practical Guide to Trade Policy Analysis”, which is accessible at:

“An Advanced Guide to Trade Policy Analysis“, which is accessible at:

“A Practical Guide to the Economic Analysis of Non-Tariff Measures”, which is accessible at:

According to the WTO, the Course will offer participants the opportunity to gain experience about various data sources relevant to trade and trade policy analysis. Participants will also familiarise themselves with different methodologies, including computing trade flows and trade policy indicators, as well as accurately estimating the gravity model of trade. The course will strike a balance between theoretical lectures and practical applications, where participants will engage in hands-on problem-solving using Stata software.
A draft programme of the course is accessible at:
