Several Western Cape
organisations have banded
together to achieve their
collective goal of growing
exports out of the region.
The National Exporter
Advisory Committee –
comprising the likes of
Wesgro, the
Exporters’
Club Western
Cape (ECWC),
the Cape
Chamber of
Commerce
and key
businessmen
– has allowed
for a far more
integrated
strategic
approach, said
Terry Gale,
chairman of
the ECWC.
“The committee was
started earlier in 2013
and has proven to be
an extremely successful
approach. Whereas
previously many of the
organisations involved were
following their own strategy,
by combining our efforts
and knowledge we have been
able to come up with a much
more targeted approach that
is proving to be very useful
to exporters."
Gale said the committee
aimed to
develop
strategies
that were
practical and
sustainable
and that would
help exporters
to get their
products on
the ground
in overseas
markets.
“We look
at issues
such as rates
and transit times so that
we are giving real value to
the exporter who is taking
away knowledge that can be
implemented in his business
immediately.”
