The Tema Shipyard is positioning itself to take advantage of the oil and gas industry, according to shipyard general manager for Business Development, Alice Torkornoo.
“Tema Shipyard is well equipped with a large yard and good machinery which meet international standards for repair and maintenance work for vessels engaged in oil and gas activities,” she said yesterday (Thursday) at the 2017 Local Content Conference and Exhibition in Takoradi.
Torkornoo said that the shipyard was ready to support and help strengthen the local content agenda of Ghana’s Petroleum Commission and pointed out that its participation in the sector would help to boost the country’s economy.
“We have enough yard space for fabrication and welding activities to be done,” she added. “We also have the waterfront, where once fabrication is completed the models and parts can then be taken to the offshore site for work to go on.”
