Swissport has acquired 50% of the remaining stock in Heathrow Cargo Handling, increasing its shareholders’ stake to 100%.
“We are very satisfied that we can strategically round off our global cargo business with this selective acquisition,” said Luzius Wirth, Swissport executive vice president Europe.
The addition will allow Swissport to increase investments in air freight operations at Heathrow Airport.
The 120-member team has handled more than 150 000 tons of air cargo in the company’s two warehouses at Heathrow.
The acquisition is subject to approval by the Competition Markets Authority, which is expected early this year.
