Online IT access to Hamburg head office
KUEHNE & Nagel is continuing with the development of its electronic solutions for the freight industry especially with its new I2 technology, which is a worldwide leader in internet software, said Hylton Gray, managing director of the company.
This fits into Kuehne and Nagel's systems which are currently involved in online tracking and tracing, utilising the information of our operations department and thereby ensuring real time tracking and tracing facilities, he said.
The company enjoys network coverage across South Africa as well as online IT access to its headquarters in Hamburg 24 hours a day.
The benefits of this are that once a pre-advice is completed by a Kuehne and Nagel office anywhere in the world, it is automatically printed in the receiving office in South Africa. This prevents human error. All documentation is processed through the system, alleviating the necessity to recapture the data, he said.
This software, said Gray, was in line with Kuehne and Nagel's global strategy of investment in a standardised IT product worldwide.
Tracking and tracing can also take place via the website. Clients can access their own cargo by using a password, he said.
