Helping to devise the optimum system

RACKING AND shelving are a fundamental part of any warehouse, yet it’s an area that is often neglected, says First Storage Concepts director Andrew Bailey.
As an example, current regulations demand that approved fire and sprinkler systems be installed, but these are often far more costly than the most suitable storage racks and shelves, he says.
“You need quality products and service when deciding on racking.
“Specialised planning and design are essential to ensure full control over the cargo to be stored,” says Bailey.
And here it’s important to the future of any business that this is undertaken by experts, he says. “There are numerous companies these days which relocate to different parts of the country to fit in with the demands of the customers using their products.
“And here another important issue must be considered. Properly developed installations can be dismantled, moved and reassembled at considerably lower cost than the purchase of new equipment. But this can only be done if the original development was handled by experts who used good quality materials.”
Since its launch 12 years ago First Storage Concepts has installed pallet racking and shelving for some of the most active warehouse operations in the country. These include Pick ‘n Pay, Woolworths, Sasol, UNISA, Wits Medical School and a number of motor and food companies.
“It isn’t merely a case of calling for a quote and having the equipment installed once the contract is signed,” says Bailey. “One of our specialists visits the company to assess the needs and objectives. We will then advise and devise the optimum system to meet the requirements. Ultimately it saves customers time and guarantees they end up with the best possible system.”
