A new Twitter account, set up by the murder-accused paralympian Oscar Pistorius's media management team, has gained more than 22 000 followers since its first tweet three days ago.
The account @OscarHardTruth was established in the past week with an intention to be a "factual sharing platform".
By Wednesday morning, it had tweeted eight times and was following 42 people. Among the tweets were links to articles with the headline: "factual updates".
It was not clear whether @OscarHardTruth would also publish links to articles it deemed false or incorrect. The account was linked to the blade-runner's official website oscarpistorius.com.
On Monday, the management team's spokeswoman, Anneliese Burgess, said the page would be linked to certain media coverage and would deal with issues that needed clarifying during the star athlete's murder trial.
Pistorius is accused of murdering his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on February 14 last year. His trial begins in the High Court in Pretoria on Monday and is to run until March 20.
On Tuesday, the high court granted media houses permission to broadcast parts of the trial.@OscarHardTruth did not comment on it.
